Royal Ascot 15/6/22 - Modest Dodgeball

Because yesterday's car park report was, frankly, the most exciting thing in the blog I'm happy to report today was straight in and up to the top for an easy drop off. Thrilling stuff.

Today's report will be short and sweet after an exhausting day in sweltering heat. Unlike my chicken pathia which was sweet but, sadly, not hot. I may be thankful for that tomorrow.

1) 6 losers- 5 rags plus second favourite Love Reigns. All bullets dodged and a modest win with impressive favourite Dramatised. In case you hadn't guessed, this may be something of a theme. Disappointingly, had to hedge a tenner.

2) 6 losers dotted around including Hafit which looked the winner at one point but all bullets dodged and modest win on favourite Eldar Eldarov though we'd rather have had the 2nd Zechariah which was beaten by the smallest of pixels in the photo. Hedged another tenner.

3) In a rare departure for us Steve didn't like Bay Bridge and, knowing we were highly unlikely to lay it to liability, he laid it on the machine to make it a smallish loser. Pretty unusual for us but Steve is in charge of the book and, if he makes the call, we're always good with it. In this case he was bang on and State of Rest gave us a, you guessed it, modest win.

4) Seriously, just read above and sub in "2 losers" and a modest win on another jolly, Saffron Beach. Places were nasty though and most of the win profit was wiped out. Hedged a tenner- again...

5) 5 losers including perennial Ascot lay "Bless Him" and, finally, a favourite into a natural liability. You know the rest; bullets dodged blah, modest win on 2nd fav etc. Though didn't hedge a tenner. We hedged a quid.

6) 4 losers including a decent early wedge on eventual 2nd horse Eddie's Boy- fortunately for us it was win only. Took enough to get liability back down but still had to hedge it for 24 quid stake. Modest win...

7) Most of the crowd had gone by this point and, with it being a Wednesday, "crowd" was a stretch in the first place. Anyway, quiet betting heat gave us 4 losers including 2nd fav White Moonlight and two decent priced winners which brought jackpots to our colleagues and a, hmm, modest win for us.

7 modest wins equalled a good day overall for us and we were, again, grateful for the system which secured a bigger profit than we had the right to expect on those results. We will have days, possibly even tomorrow, where we lose on "results" but today we got lucky and celebrated with incredibly average curries and the promise of a 9:30 bedtime. See you tomorrow.
