Thirsk LIVE BLOG 16/5/26 - I Am Superman - and I (don't) know what's happening

Kryptonite, like the power of love, is a curious thing. Well, actually, it's not really a thing at all but you know what I mean. Thirsk is Simon's kryptonite from a picking sense. From the infamous "pick 10 in the gap" on day 1 (20 bets a race, thanks very much) the pick at Thirsk has never gone well for the lad. Tends to give me a ring on the way home. Tends to say "I should've gone there"... So, today's live blog will kick off the the thrill a minute decision of where to stand. Followed, 2 minutes later, by where we should be standing. Keep eyes peeled.

I'm going to attempt to get an idea of the book posted on the off if possible. Split, probably, into four categories of ever increasing happiness from our point of view. I'm going with the snappy

"Losers"

"Snoozers"

"Winners"

"Jackpots"

There may even be quick tales of heartache or joy straight afterwards depending on a) which one is ahead in the photo and b) whether the judge sees it (yes, it's still too soon). Whenever there's an update it'll be on Twitter. Enjoy/endure the ride...

Simon is in! Looks like 4th from end on back line next to the lovely Henry from the equally lovely Mick Walsh team. Just the 80 mins to go to race 1...

1) Losers 10, 6

Snoozers 7

Winners The rest!

Jackpots Not taken enough!

Cracking start for the good/bad guys depending on your point of view. Skinner in the win book but not quite enough take for the "jackpot" definition

2) Losers; 5

Snoozers; 6, 10

Winners; 2, 4, 1

Jackpots; The rest

Heartbreak as we thought we had it beat not once but twice. Places were great though. Overall race nearer a snooze than a lose.

3) Losers; 2, 9, 6, 4

Snoozers; 8, 1

Winners; 11

Jackpots; The rest

Worst result in book partially offset by places as top 3 in market prevail. We still lead but it's a diminishing one...

4) Losers; 11, 9, 8, 1, 4

Snoozers; 3

Winners; The rest

Jackpots; Not taken enough! Further heartbreak as the 2 who hit 1/5 in running at different times lose to the small bogey. Another backwards step, albeit a baby one

5) Losers; 3, 6, 10

Snoozers; 12, 2

Winners; 7, 8, 11, 9

Jackpots; The rest

Due to a not unreasonable objection to 5am alarm calls we travelled south on Friday night and treated ourselves to a meal and a couple of beers and that's where the confusion set in. Simon was already
